This iced tea is made with green tea but may also be served with oolong or Jasmine tea. In Vietnam, tea is usually served iced, and it is customary to add jasmine tea to green tea. After this, large ice cubes are added, turning it into a cool and refreshing drink. After having tried several different options, we at TeaSwan love using oolong tea to make Vietnamese iced tea or jasmine tea. 

Vietnamese iced tea:

There are several ways to make Vietnamese iced teas - it is very different from either hot or cold brew. The Vietnamese understand that some drinks have more health benefits than others, so they have developed techniques to make iced teas that are both tasty and refreshing. The process of extracting the flavor from the leaves is also different from how the beverage is packaged in the West.

Here's a simple recipe for deliciously sweet and refreshing Vietnamese iced tea that you can make in about three minutes, using store-bought tea and a bit of elbow grease. The secret is using boiling water rather than microwave or freezer cold water. Add a generous spoonful of powdered ginger to your hot cup before you pour in your hot water. Do not expect instant or near-instant gratification from hot cups of tea. Green teas often have substantially different feelings depending on the time and temperature used for steeping, so experiment with water throughout the range. Try 2-3 steeping's. You want the tea to be fresh but not too hot.
